The Fund

HOW CAN THE FUNDS BE USED?

Technologists can apply to use the fund for anything that they believe will improve their physical, mental and emotional health. Our individual health needs are personal and broad. This is why we don't place a limitation on the uses for the fund, we only seek to understand how the allocations will be benefit the recipient. This can include but is not limited to:

  • Paid time between freelance projects
  • Couple's counseling
  • Surgery
  • Loan assistance
  • Therapy
  • Coaching
  • Doctor's visits
  • Prescription medication
  • Child care/ day care

HOW OFTEN ARE FUNDS DISTRIBUTED?

Funds are distributed every other month.

HOW ARE FUNDS DISTRIBUTED?

The Developer Health Fund leverages Donorbox for donations, and releases funding via Stripe. 

In countries that are not supported by Stripe, the Fund utilizes secure wire transfers.

WHERE DOES MONEY FOR THE FUND COME FROM?

The fund is currently backed by G2i. In the future, funds may also come from donors in the developer ecosystem worldwide that would like to contribute such as individuals, organizations, and companies.

IS THE DEVELOPER HEALTH FUND A NON-PROFIT?

No, the fund is not a non-profit. It is operated under G2i with the support of an advisory committee.

ARE DONATIONS TO THE DEVELOPER HEALTH FUND TAX DEDUCTIBLE?

No, the fund is not a non-profit at this time, and cannot provide tax deductions for any donations.

HOW CAN AN ORGANIZATION GET INVOLVED?

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

Any software developer from around the world (excluding Russia) can apply.

CAN I APPLY FROM OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES?

Yes, developers can apply from anywhere in the world. 

Unfortunately, at this time the only country we cannot accept applications from is Russia.

DO I HAVE TO PROVE I AM A DEVELOPER TO APPLY?

Yes, in your application you must share your LinkedIn profile for verification that you work in the tech industry.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO APPLY?

All applicants must be over the age of 18 to apply.

‍HOW CAN SOMEONE APPLY?

HOW OFTEN CAN SOMEONE APPLY?

There is no limit to the number of times someone can apply to the Developer Health Fund.

CAN SOMEONE RECEIVE FUNDING MULTIPLE TIMES?

While we aim to support as many technologists as we can, it is possible to receive funding more than once. If you've already received funding and still require an additional amount, please fill out a new application form and indicate that you have previously received funds.

DOES AN APPLICATION EXPIRE?

Applications will be reviewed for each distribution for up to a year after submission. If there is still a need for funds after a year, we ask that a new application be submitted.
